I start Recall-pro. Go into options, preferences and to File, under Size I now sets "Recording file size limit" to 60 min. It works fine, also the next time I start Recall-pro.
Thereafter I go to File and save settings as... and create a settings file.
Next time I start recAll-pro and checks "Recording file size limit" it is 60 min, but if I now loads my settings file, "Recording file size limit" is changed to 10 Min, even it was set to 60 min when I created the setting file. If I try the same but choose 60 Mb, then it works as it should. What could be the reason for this.

I have installed 2 sound cards besides the one on the motherboard. I can only make it work with setting files if I should record on the 3 sound cards at the same time. If I start up a new instance, only recordings from soundcard 1 is recorded, that is the motherboard. Even if I choose soundcard 2 directly in Recall-pro it doesn’t work.
But if I setup windows to use soundcard 2, and I thereafter makes a settings file in recall-pro, then it works, even when I set windows back to the first soundcard.

I have tried to make 3 short cuts on the desk where the text in the short cut to "the canal 2 recorder" is:
C:\Programs\RecAllPRO\RecAllPRO.exe /in canal 2.ini

But the contents in the ini file isn’t loaded. RecAll-pro becomes quite "reset" what settings is concerned. So it doesn’t seems to work. The Ini file is located in the Recall-pros own library.

Best regards

Nicolaj

We duplicated the problem with file duration not being saved correctly in .ini file, and a new beta with the fix will appear in a day or so as beta7 version.

It is better to include full path as part of initialization file argument. Also, for any file or path in a command line argument that includes the space character, enclose the argument in double-quotes.
Try:
C:\Programs\RecAllPRO\RecAllPRO.exe /i "C:\Programs\RecAllPRO\canal 2.ini"

We still need to look at the multiple sound card issue you reported. Thank you for the detailed report.

Test with extra soundcard
Recall-pro beta6

Thanks for the quick answer, I now use the full path as part of initialization file argument as you described and it works fine.

I have made a new PC for myself, and following report appeared by this.

I install a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 soundcard in the machine, which already has a soundcard on the motherboard. The one on the motherboard is used by Windows as standard.
There are now two soundcards on the machine.

I start recall-pro, Microsoft Sound Mapper has been chosen, and it record from soundcard 1, the one on the motherboard. ( NViDA® nForce ™ Audio)
If I start up a new instance, only recordings from soundcard 1 are recorded, that means, that there are now running two Recall-pro side by side, which both record the same from soundcard 1. Not until I in the new instance choose soundcard 2 myself (Emu10kx Audio [D000]) recording are made from soundcard 2.

Even I chose the other soundcard manually on the other machine, which I described in my previous letter, I wasn’t able to make it work, but had to make a detour in Windows, but here the manual choice works without problems.

This test shows that the function in Microsoft Sound Mapper, where a new instance will use next available recording device, doesn’t work satisfactory. You have to, yourself, manually to choose the next soundcard, which should be recorded from.

I experience a strange phenomenon which partly is described in the letter ”Vol. Prob. w/ win xp and RecPro”
The first machine which I built up, are going to work with 3 soundcards, the other one which I just made today and on basis of which I have made above report, works with 2 soundcard.
The vol. will not record beyond about 48 - 52 on the vol. meter when I record from the extra soundcards, which are installed on the machine. On the first soundcard there are no problems in getting it to show 90 - 100. But no matter how much you turn on the sound, the vol. meter doesn’t get over approx. 52 when there are recorded from soundcard 2 and 3 on the first machine, and soundcard 2 on the other machine.
I have off course adjusted Volume slider setting in the mixer Record Control window for all 3 soundcard to max.
The recordings become good when you know about the problem, otherwise you can mistakenly turn on the sound to record too high on the following soundcards, if you think the sound is too weak because it only reach to 48 – 52.

If recall-pro records on soundcard 1 and I adjust the volume on the radio scanner to the volume meter shows 60 – 66 and I thereafter put the plug into soundcard 2 the volume meter shows 15 – 19.

The machines are 2,4 Ghz. 512 Mb RAM, Win XP Pro. SP1. The last one is my own, and you will soon get a registration on the other one.

I am very happy about Recall-pro and will therefore do my best to get so many things corrected as possible now where the program is in beta status.

Best Regards

I put RecAll-PRO beta 7 on web site, at
http://www.sagebrush.com/probeta.htm
which should fix the file duration settings file problem.

Note: We will be out of the office for a couple of weeks, so any further bug fixes will have to wait. We haven't forgotten about your reports, and we thank you for your patience.

Hi Jim,

Yes the file duration settings file problem is ok now. It works as it should now. I look forward to your return, so we can have a look at the other things.

Regards

Nicolaj.
